Buffalo Mall is finally coming to Eldoret. Following the success of the Buffalo Mall shopping centre brand in Naivasha, which serves the wider Nakuru County; Buffalo Mall Eldoret will represent the most significant retail development in Uasin Gishu County to date.
Buffalo Mall Eldoret will be situated on a highly visible site located on Kisumu Road, one of Eldoret’s main arterial routes. The site is a short distance from the city centre and benefits from a wide catchment area including the Pioneer and affluent Elgon View suburbs.
“We are very excited at taking our next step in rolling out the Buffalo Mall brand into Kenya’s secondary cities. Buffalo Mall Eldoret will prove a key addition to Kenya’s retail landscape as national and international retailers seek to serve the aspirations of Kenyans in this important city. Already we are witnessing high levels of tenant demand. The provision of truly international standard retail facilities outside Nairobi is long overdue and is a market we will deliver to,” said a representative from BMD.
Due for completion in 2017 Buffalo Mall Eldoret will deliver high-quality retail space over two levels. The design encompasses a variety of retailer configurations including anchor and mid-sized units, plus in-line shops located along a bright and vibrant central gallery. The gross lettable area will total approximately 14,250 sq.m (153,000 sq.ft) supported by a high ratio of dedicated parking.
Buffalo Mall Eldoret is being developed in partnership by a consortium consisting of Buffalo Mall Developments, Carlisle Property Holdings and Abland. The developers have extensive experience in executing landmark projects in Africa and Europe and are supported by an international architectural group and technical team.
The consortium has partnered with the representatives of the landowner, Hornbill Development Company Ltd, to carry out the development. Hornbill is owned by the family of the Hon Reuben Chesire, who was a leading political and corporate figure in the country, renowned for his agricultural and business prowess. The family has been closely associated with promoting the interests of the city over many years.
“The development will be of critical importance to the town. There has been an emphasis on design efficiency and the team will ensure the delivery of a world-class shopping experience that will herald a new chapter and will set a different standard for our Town of Eldoret. It will provide a facelift and decongest the town to ensure that Eldoret can leverage itself as a regional business and leisure hub,” said Mrs. Alice Chesire, Chairman, Hornbill Development Company Ltd.
